FAQ

  • Why should we choose you as our photographer?

I have over 20 years of professional photography experience. I’ve done thousands of headshots. My favorite, most frequent feedback is this, “this is the best photo I’ve ever had.” I work hard to create an easy going, comfortable experience. My whole goal is to make you look and feel your best, and LOVE your professional headshot.

  • What geographical area do you work out of?

I’m located in Salt Lake and will travel up to two hours for shoots. Longer distances may require a travel surcharge.

  • What is a professional headshot?

A professional headshot is a high-quality portrait that shows you at your best. It’s typically used for business profiles, LinkedIn, company websites, and personal branding. Unlike casual photos, professional headshots are carefully lit, posed, and retouched to create a polished and approachable look that builds trust with clients, employers, and colleagues.

  • Why do I need a professional headshot?

Your headshot is often the first impression you make online. A professional headshot helps you stand out, appear confident, and communicate credibility. Whether you’re job hunting, building your brand, or leading a team, a current headshot makes you look polished and approachable on LinkedIn, company websites, business cards, and marketing materials.

  • What should I wear for a professional headshot?

Wear clothing that reflects your industry and personal brand while keeping the focus on your face. Solid colors photograph best, and neutral or darker tones often look more professional than busy patterns. Choose something you feel confident in and avoid clothing that’s too trendy or distracting. For men, a crisp shirt or jacket works well. For women, simple tops with clean lines photograph beautifully. Layers can add dimension, and accessories should be minimal.

  • How should I prepare for a headshot session?

Get a good night’s sleep, drink plenty of water, and plan your wardrobe in advance. Bring a few outfit options so you can choose what looks best on camera. If possible, schedule haircuts or grooming appointments several days before the session. Arrive with neat hair and makeup (if applicable), but don’t worry — your photographer will guide you on posing and expression so you feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera.

  • How often should I update my headshot?

Most professionals update their headshots every 1–2 years, or whenever their appearance changes significantly. A current headshot helps ensure people recognize you in person and signals that your online presence is active and up-to-date.

  • What’s the difference between the Standard, Executive, and Corporate Sessions?

Standard Session ($350): Ideal for LinkedIn, company websites, and personal branding. Includes 2–3 finished photos, light retouching, and a 1-hour session.

Executive Session ($600): A premium option with more poses and 5–7 delivered photos, plus professional retouching for executives and professionals who want variety.

Corporate Session ($2,300): Perfect for companies or teams, providing 2–3 photos per individual with consistent, professional retouching and styling.

  • How long does a headshot session take?

Once I’m set-up, sessions go pretty quicky. I usually spend about 20 minutes per person. Additional poses add more time.

  • Where do the sessions take place?

You can choose between studio sessions for a clean, classic look, or on-location sessions for a more natural or branded setting.

  • Do you provide posing and expression guidance?

Absolutely! Most people don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera, so I provide coaching on how to stand, sit, and position yourself for the most flattering results. My goal is to help you look confident and natural, not stiff or overly posed. I want you to love your photos and work hard to get that result for you.

  • Can I book professional hair and makeup?

Yes! I work with an incredibly talented stylist who will make you look stunning on camera. Her price can be negotiated for shorter shoots.

  • How fast will I receive my headshots?

Standard turnaround is 3 business days for all packages. Rush delivery is available:

    $100 for Standard Session

    $200 for Executive Session

    $750 for Corporate Session

  • Do you retouch the photos?

Yes. All headshots include light or professional retouching (depending on your package) to smooth skin, adjust lighting, and remove distractions while keeping your natural look intact. Heavy retouching (thinning faces, wrinkle reduction) can be requested for an extra fee).

  • Should I bring multiple outfits?

I leave this up to you. Bringing 2–3 outfits gives you options. It allows you to capture different looks — one formal and one more casual, for example — so you can use your headshot across different platforms.

  • How much do professional headshots cost?

    Standard Session: $350

    Executive Session: $600

    Corporate Session: $2,300

Optional add-ons include professional hair & makeup ($850), rush delivery, and additional photos ($75 each). Heavy retouching (face thinning, double chin removal, wrinkle reduction) can be added for $100/photo.

  • Will I get digital files of my headshots?
